Welcome to nonostantement: a weekly newsletter with shocking, nasty and enchanting stuff found all over the Internet.
Hi! Joele here, writing my weekly newsletter (this one) - collecting all the interesting links I’ve found during last week while working online.
Thanks to some of those very special people who have shown their support to nonostantement donating using this link: The One and Only IMV, Dobro, V and Jurgen ;)
I have no recommendations for the soundtrack this week, apart from obviously listening to The Mandalorian theme for 10 hours straight.
#PEOPLE
[Video] - Continuing with the Mandalorian topic, [SPOILER ALERT] some genius person took the final scene (the one in the hallway, with that jedi) and re-edited it using Luke's Fight Theme. Amazing!
[Video] - On July 25, 2020, people from all corners of the planet filmed their lives and shared their stories with YouTube to be part of a docufilm. This is the result.
[Video] - I don't have a big bucket list, there is only one thing and for now I only can do it like this: A Journey Around Earth in Real Time.
[Video] - Pyongyang is typically depicted with blue skies and happy people in propaganda videos. What does it look like when it rains?
[Video] - Did you see the picture of that amazing builing at the beginning of this same newsletter? Check out the documentary about the work of Freddy Mamani. Creator of the Andean palaces, also known as Cholets, in El Alto, Bolivia.
[Video] - So, General Motors released a commercial (quite boring and clichet if you ask me). Then, a Norwegian university responded with a rather funny video. Love them!
[Video] - Trailer for the highly anticipated new work from Adam Curtis: Can't Get You Out of My Head - An Emotional History of the Modern World. Can’t wait to see that, his work has changed my perception of news and also the way I read between the lines of the narrative we use to tell (or tell ourselves) history as it happens.
[Video] - somehow they too are ... people: Unreal announced its MetaHuman Creator, "a new tool that will empower anyone to create a bespoke photorealistic digital human, fully rigged and complete with hair and clothing, in a matter of minutes."
#WEIRD
buttsss - A collection of beautiful round butt illustrations.
[Video] - Ray Bradbury selling prunes (1968).

#SOCIALMEDIA
Did you know that Wikipedia has a “List of selfie-related injuries and deaths”?
'I get better sleep': stories from people who quit social media. Maybe I shouldn't say this, given I work practically every day with social media ... but personally I feel so much better since I almost stopped using LinkedIn ;)
Advertising Standards Authority has ruled that influencers need to state when they use a beauty filter to promote skincare or cosmetics in the UK. - the issues related to models’ photo retouch were known and discussed even before the invention of filters (now) and photoshop (before). Will this new rule help limiting the damage?
#THEDARKSIDE
Cops are using copyrighted music to block videos from being posted. The idea is as simple as it is ingenious: if social networks block real time streamings with copyrighted songs, I can play one while they're filming me to get the video blocked.
That's it for now.
