[nonostantement #179] - bot vs distracted politicians / robots & groceries / tiktok music producers
Now with MORE BRANDS!
Welcome to nonostantement: a weekly newsletter with acceptable, surprising and glamorous stuff found all over the Internet.
Hi, it's summer so sometimes the mail will arrive a few hours later than usual. For all newcomers, my name is Joele, I deal with online communication for brands, companies and institutions as a freelance consultant. Every week I send this email with the most interesting links found while working on the Internet.
Every week I also give some musical tips to listen to while reading the linked articles. This Sunday I recommend Sleaford Mods - Nudge It Ft. Amy Taylor and to take a ride on the Soundcloud profile of Portishead, they just posted there a cover of ABBA released in 2016 (they made it available on Soundcloud to push the platform's royalties system, very interesting for artists).

Some former Google executives have just launched Neeva, a search engine completely without tracking and without advertising... for a monthly fee. I have often heard "I would pay not to be tracked" let's see if it's true.
With one of the clients I am working with on social media we have often talked about how to avoid exploiting the mechanisms of these platforms that can worsen the mental health of their followers (yes, I have clients this good). So I found this article about how Apple’s OS design could have a really positive effect on the attention problems that plague many people.
AI bot trolls politicians with how much time they're looking at phones - I love this idea :)
[Video] - How many robots does it take to run a grocery store? If you want to click on a single link in this email, watch this video. I was very impressed with the organizational level of this setup and the speed with which we are "progressing" (we are progressing, aren't we?) in these field. wow.
A very complete report on the creative economy, which spans many fields and which I recommend to read even just casually to all my readers working with creativity.

[Video] - Line Riders - Blue Danube. This guy has hand drawn a line rider track with multiple riders to synchronize with "The Blue Danube" by Johann Strauss. Amazing piece of work!
[Video] - The Making of The Big Lebowski (1998). I don't think I really need to add anything else.
[Video] - a 24/7 YouTube live stream with 90's commercials only. I want this with Italian ones too.

TikTok is a great place for selling products, but they go viral too - they sell fast but are forgotten fast too: TikTok made me buy it.
Why Gallery Media is writing songs for brands on TikTok and Instagram. An excellent idea: see a space in the market, move quickly by creating a specific offer and ... profit.

How China Spreads Its Propaganda Version of Life for Uyghurs. Thousands of videos of Uyghurs denying abuses against their community are showing up on Twitter and YouTube.
'Anom’ phones used in an FBI honeypot are mysteriously showing up on the secondary market. Vice bought one.
Being drugged by your Tinder date to use your smartphone and steal all your cryptocurrencies. It really happens.
How Underground Fiber Optics Spy on Humans Moving Above. Vibrations from cars and pedestrians create unique signals in cables. Now scientists have used the trick to show how Covid-19 brought life to a halt.
That's it for now.
